Ski and train with Wild Voss
Our guides will make sure they find the right tour for you, considering your level, your ambitions, and the actual conditions. In the upper part of the Raundalen valley, stations are close together allowing for interesting linkups and traverses. Here the winter comes early and lasts long. Welcome to the best place in Norway, (and perhaps in Europe?) for “train and ski”.
What will you experience in our guided ski touring trips?
Raundalen has impactful nature with its rivers, waterfalls, forests, valleys, and mountains – right from the train!
Learn about safe travel, avalanche terrain, and what to consider when making your own decisions in the backcountry.
The enjoyment of making your own tracks.
Calmness, relaxation, and getting out of your routine.
Have a cup of coffee looking at the sunset view from the train window after a great day out.
Spanish or French speaking? We have guides able to work in your language!
Our ski touring trips are not standard. We take a great amount of effort into planning according to weather, snow conditions, and the ambitions of the group. Our goal is that our participants have a great day skiing and are left with a feeling of accomplishment.
Physical requirements
If you have a moderate level of fitness you can ski tour with us. We will choose an objective that matches your physical level as well as your skiing skills. You have to be able to dress and equip yourself for a day out in the Norwegian high mountains in winter (look below).
A typical tour plan
We meet at 09.15 outside of our office which is located on the second floor of Tre Brør Kafé og Bar, in the town center. We go through the plan and make sure that we are bringing all the gear we need. We lend you avalanche safety equipment if needed (transceiver, probe, and shovel).
The local train leaves Voss station at 09.51. After 30-40 minutes we reach the starting stop of our trip. For returning back we aim for the train that leaves Raundalen at 16.00. We are back at Voss around 17.00.
Season
As long as we have snow. That often means from the beginning of December to the end of May.
Remember: We give tips for free! We try to answer everyone that writes to us regarding guided trips, skiing in the fjord or where to find good snow, etc. You can find more information regarding these subjects in our blog.
