Skitouring mountain range "Raundalsryggen" with Wild Voss

Raundalsryggen (The Raundals ridge) is the skyline up the highest mountains of Voss. Horndalsnuten (1461), Skipadalsnuten (1496), Seldalsnuten (1548) and Olsskavlen (1576) are its dominant peaks. Raundalsryggen offers alpine terrain, with steep lines and possibilities for ski alpinism. These mountains also offer mellower terrain through big open faces, perfect for cruising in soft snow. There are a lot of different possible link ups, but our original grand traverse is an athletic challenge that will take you from the valleys of Raundalen, with its spectacular turquoise and silvery waters, all the way through high mountain terrain. This can be the perfect introduction to ski alpinism. Join us in this incredible 1800 vertical meter and 22km journey!

What do you get to experience?
On this trip, you get to experience nature in Raundalen at its best. From the old pine forest along the blue-green Raundalselvi to wild and alpine mountain peaks. The silence in the valley floor is only broken by the whistling from the toga that passes. Look forward to getting in contact with beautiful high mountain nature!

The trip over Raundalsryggen gives you a nice collection of peaks, including the highest mountain on Voss. We start with Horndalsnuten (1461) furthest to the west. Then we lay the track over Skipadalsnuten (1496), Seldalsnuten (1548), and Olsskavlen (1576).
This is a long ski trip with a total climb of about 1800 meters. This means that the trip is well suited for you who are comfortable when the body has to work for several hours. There are enough slopes here, but the terrain is not very difficult or exposed.

On the guided tour, you can learn a lot about safe travel in the winter mountains by enjoying the guide's knowledge. We set up open group processes that ensure active participation and learning for everyone.

Typical itinerary
We meet at 7.45 at the parking lot near Skiple in Raundalen (Google maps). There we go through the plan for the day, safety letter, and check that all equipment is in place. We drive a car up to Voll, where the trip ends in the afternoon.

The trip starts in easy terrain along unpaved forest roads. After a quarter of an hour, we aim for Horndalsnuten. Up there we spend about 4 hours. The trip follows Raundalsryggen in varying terrain, but never particularly difficult or exposed. Up towards Skipadalsnuten, we fasten skis on the backpack, otherwise, we have skis on our legs all the time.

After about 9 hours, we approach the top of Olsskavlen. We remove the traps from the skis for the last time and prepare for the beautiful descent to Voll.
The expected time use is 9-11 hours, depending on the lead, the weather, and the group.
