Voss Gardsmat - Ullestadteigen
Voss Gardsmat combines traditional farming with the processing of its own produce and the promotion of local food culture.
The farm raises free-range pigs and Old Norwegian Spælsau sheep, while also sourcing lamb and mutton from neighbouring farms. These ingredients are carefully processed and used to create the food that is both sold and served on the farm. Only natural additives are used in the production process.
The farm also has a kitchen garden where a variety of vegetables and berries are grown and transformed into products such as pesto, chutneys and jams. The farm shop offers a range of homemade produce, while the function room is available for confirmations, corporate events, Christmas parties, private gatherings and other celebrations. Guests are served homemade food prepared with ingredients from the farm and the surrounding area.
The property was purchased in 2005. At that time, it had stood abandoned for more than forty years. The land had become overgrown, and the buildings had fallen into severe disrepair. Since then, woodland has been cleared, new houses and farm buildings have been constructed, and the old Vossaløa (traditional Voss hay barn) has been preserved and is currently being restored. Every part of this work has been carried out with great respect for the history of the place and for the people who lived and worked here before. Historical records show that the farm has been inhabited since at least the early eighteenth century.
Today, the place is a thriving farm where food, history and hospitality go hand in hand.
